Project Description
PROJECT CASE STUDY
A reverse-cycle AHU for a Houseboat Recording Studio
Virtually all recording studios require air conditioning and ventilation. Because these spaces are sealed to prevent external noise—and to stop sound leakage from disturbing the immediate vicinity—fresh air must be mechanically supplied. AirCraft Air Handling is a UK located AHU manufacturer with significant experience in manufacturing reverse-cycle AHUs, of the type required for studios, we design, manufacture and install/commission new units or supply the AHU unit directly to an installer.
While most recording studios are found in traditionally constructed buildings, AirCraft Air Handling was recently commissioned for a truly unique project: a houseboat moored on the River Thames. We designed and manufactured a bespoke, reverse-cycle AHU to meet the client’s site-specific requirements.
Crucially for this environment, the AHU was required to provide fresh, tempered air at a low velocity to avoid any background noise interference. The unit was also supplied with onboard controls and custom-engineered to fit within the physical constraints of this unique riverside location.
