AHU Refurbishment and New Installation Belgravia

Five AHUs refurbished, plus the installation of a new bespoke AHU in a premium SW1 residential property.

Like many of the UK’s historic cities, London is home to some of our most outstanding Georgian-period homes. One of these locations is SW1, one of London’s highest-profile postcodes, and which includes Belgravia, Knightsbridge and Buckingham Palace. The area boasts some of the most expensive Georgian residences to be found anywhere in the world.

Typically, for those living in top-of-the-market properties, such as the many five-storey Georgian townhouses in Belgravia, good quality conditioned air is important for all who visit or reside in these premium homes.

Over the past years, AirCraft Air Handling have refurbished and manufactured a range of bespoke AHU systems installed in private residences in and around Belgrave Square SW1. Most recently, we have refurbished five AHUs that had been installed several years ago that were showing signs of age, resulting in poor performance. At the same time we manufactured an additional new bespoke unit for the same property. The property was a five-storey Grade II Georgian Town house with basement, annex and an indoor swimming pool.

With properties of this type, the owners generally have a management company look after the services, which was exactly the case for this project. Our first task was to carry out an onsite condition survey of the five existing AHUs and an inspection of the area where the new AHU was to be installed. From the initial enquiry the AirCraft Air Handling team worked closely with the contractor to ensure all works were carried out to a pre-determined and fully agreed timescale.

The AHU condition survey that we undertook confirmed exactly what was required to reinstate the performance of the existing five low pressure hot water and chilled water AHUs to bring them up to date with more energy-efficient heat exchangers and EC fans.

With the refurbishment work completed and the new AHU installed, we handed the units over to the contractor who commissioned and subsequently placed them into service, reinstating the temperature-controlled air within this premium residence.
